About the ‘JFF Untitled’ Contest

As part of its continued commitment to fostering new voices in Indian cinema, the Jagran Film Festival (JFF) is proud to introduce JFF Untitled — a pioneering initiative dedicated to identifying, mentoring and showcasing emerging talent across the filmmaking spectrum.

JFF will bring together promising directors, writers, actors, editors, cinematographers and other creative professionals, offering them a unique opportunity to come in a JFF & build a team and collaboratively conceptualize and produce an original short film. Selected team will be supported by the JFF Grant — a financial and creative catalyst aimed at transforming bold ideas into cinematic reality.

JFF Untitled is not merely a competition — it is a creative platform where talent meets opportunity and vision meets execution.

Eligibility

  • Open exclusively to registered JFF Delegates
  • Participants must be Indian citizens
  • Teams must participate in all mandatory sessions during the Delhi chapter of JFF 2025

Step 4: Attend the Festival at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi

  • 4th September 2025 (3:30 PM): Official Contest Launch
  • 5th September 2025: Filmmaking Workshop with an industry expert & Final Registration
  • 6th September 2025: Masterclass & Submission of Entry
  • 7th September 2025: Casting Session & Final Team Announcement

Terms & Conditions

  • Participation is restricted to JFF Delegates only
    • Individual and Group can register
    • In case of group, all members need to be registered through BMS
  • Open to Indian nationals aged 18 and above
  • No submission fee to submit your work
  • All submission will be run through by JFF Untitled Jury Members
  • Last date of submission: 27th August 2025 (after BMS registration)
  • Final group will be declared on 3rd day of the Festival
  • Selected teams will be awarded the JFF Grant of ₹1,00,000
  • All expenses must be transparently accounted for through a formal cost sheet
  • In case of team dissolution or failure to deliver, the grant will be considered null and void
  • Qualification criteria for the final film submission will be announced shortly

What is JFF Untitled?

A new initiative by Jagran Film Festival to help individuals create and premiere their first short film with mentorship and funding.

Who can apply?

Indian citizens (18+) who register as JFF Delegates. Open to directors, writers, actors, editors, DOPs, VFX/AI creators, and more.

Is this a Group Entry or Individual Entry?

Yes, entries can be individual or group. In case of a group entry, all members must be registered as delegates. Teams will be formed during the festival.

Are all sessions mandatory?

Yes. Attend all sessions in person from 4–7 September 2025 at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi.

What should I submit?

A 2-minute video that showcases your area of expertise:

  • Actors: Performance video
  • Writers: Storyline or synopsis
  • Directors, DOPs, VFX/AI artists: Showreel of your work

When will topics be decided?

During the festival. The winning script will set the production theme and guide team assignments.

What is the JFF Grant?

Selected teams will receive a production grant of ₹1,00,000. A proper cost sheet and accountability of expenses are mandatory.

Why is attending all sessions important?

The workshop, masterclasses, and casting session are essential parts of the program. These sessions include key briefings, hands-on learning, script discussions, team formation, and production planning. To fully participate and be considered for selection, you must be present from 4–7 September 2025 at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi.

JFF Untitled is India’s only short film platform that offers guaranteed theatrical release — across 5 to 14 cities — for selected films as part of the JFF 2026 tour.
